Don - Cookhouse staff.
After Burma, he was i/c cookhouse for a while, on account of having been a butcher's boy, in Colchester (Kirkee Barracks?). The staff were largely German PoWs, on account of having been proper German pastrycooks, at least one in the family firm.
Don met Joy (logical really) in Colchester.

Mum was rather fond of the Germans; who baked a highly illegal War Office Wedding Cake for the nuptuals. Don smuggled the contraband out in a big Humber taxi, as that looked a bit like a staff car & got waved through by the gate guards.
